I can't blame them for balking on the F-35 as long as Trump is alive (let's hope that's a short term prospect). It's an amazing aircraft system, but there are alternatives. Sad that Trump is set on destroying a nearly 80-year old alliance, and souring the Portugal-US relationship in the process.
More power to them. Trump may not live long enough for the "find out" phase of the FAFO cycle, but then again he appears to be the living paradigm of "mala hierba nunca muere" (Spanish weeds never die).

Regardless of ever evolving geopolitical consideration, it is always better to buy locally whether blueberries or jet fighters.
