You’re right and, yes, it’s confusing. So: last year was the 50th birthday of the revolution; today is the 50th birthday from the first elections after the dictatorship; and next year (25 April 2026) will be the 50th birthday of the approval of the Portuguese Constitution. Because of this, the official celebrations, such as this events, are sometimes generally called “the 50th anniversary of the revolution”
If the Portuguese government considered extending its tax scheme of the NHR, many people would stay here forever paying significant amounts of taxes to the government.
“… he asked during the conference commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution.”
It’s 51st anniversary, yes?
It’s 50th. It’s the general designation that will be used until next year for the official celebrations and the 51st only began today ;-)
I'm confused. Last year, 25 April, 2024, was the 50th year anniversary. So today, 25 April, 2025, wouldn't be the 51st anniversary?
