Ancient whale bone washes ashore in Figueira da Foz
Storms may have brought to the surface skeletal remains weighing hundreds of kilograms.
A whale bone believed to be thousands of years old was found on Tuesday on Buarcos beach, north of the city of Figueira da Foz.
The pelvic bone, which is markedly asymmetrical and measures around 1.5 metres in length by one metre in width, weighs several hundred kilograms.
