25 new speed cameras introduced in July
From next month there will be 123 fixed speed cameras in Portugal. Find out where they will be located.
The National Speed ​​Control System (SINCRO), managed by the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), will introduce 25 new speed cameras across Portugal on July 6.
Out of the 25 new cameras announced, 14 will measure instantaneous speed (Velocidade Instantânea, VI) and 11 will measure average speed (Velocidade Média, VM) .
This brings the number of fixed speed cameras to 123 — 100 for instantaneous speed and 23 for average speed.

All SINCRO speed camera are signalised. The objective is for everyone who travels on the roads and streets to know these places and comply, in all situations, with the speed limits, protecting not only their lives, but also that of their family and others.
Drivers are informed that there is a radar on the road they are traveling on through the traffic signs instantaneous speed (sign H43, below right) or average speed (sign H42, below left), set out in the Traffic Sign Regulations:
Instant speed cameras monitor the speed of the vehicle at the moment it passes the speed control location.
Average speed cameras monitor the average speed practiced by drivers by measuring the time it takes for the vehicle to travel a certain distance.
